NOTICE TO MEMBERS- Personal Flotation Devices<\/span><\/h1>\n

\u00a0<\/span>Yachting Australia – Special Regulations Part 2 – Off the Beach Boats<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/strong>Regulation 5.01 \u2013 PERSONAL FLOTATION DEVICES<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/strong>Members are advised that the existing Regulation 5.01 including the ban on PFDs Type 3 has been deleted and replaced by the following:<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span>5.01<\/span>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/strong>PERSONAL FLOTATION DEVICES<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span>PFD requirements vary between the States and Territories and it is recommended that before purchase and use it should be established that the PFD is acceptable under local law.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span>5.01.1<\/span>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 All crew members shall wear, whilst afloat, a personal flotation device (PFD) secured about their person in a manner appropriate to the design of the device.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span>5.01.2<\/span>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 PFDs shall comply with one of the following:<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span>(a)<\/span>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Australian Standard AS4758-2008; or<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

(b)<\/span>\u00a0\u00a0 Australian Standard AS1512-1996 for PFD Type 1; or<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

(c)<\/span>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Australian Standard AS1499-1996 for PFD Type 2; or<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

(d)<\/span>\u00a0\u00a0 Australian Standard AS2260-1996 for PFD Type 3; or<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

(e)<\/span>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 An equivalent or more stringent overseas standard<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span>and <\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span>shall be branded with the respective Standard Authority\u2019s mark of approval.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span>5.01.3<\/span>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Inflatable PFDs shall not be used.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span>5.01.4<\/span>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 PFDs shall be maintained in good order.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span>5.01.5<\/span>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 PFDs shall be marked on the inside to identify their ownership. Preferably this should be the mane of the individual owner and a contact number: otherwise it shall be the name of the Club or organization to which the PFD belongs.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
