About

Lysterfield Sailing Club welcomes everyone to our club.
We welcome peoples of all ability, genders, backgrounds, religions and age and all indigenous Australians and Torres Strait Islanders. We endeavour to represent the diversity of our local community.
We would like to acknowledge that Lysterfield Sailing Club is located on the traditional lands of the Wurundjeri peopleWe pay respect to Elders past, present and emerging.

We provide excellent racing year round, with both a summer and winter series. We race weekly from October through to May (for our summer series) and every second Saturday from June to September during our winter series.

We also host open training and open days with a formal sailing school for those wishing to learn to sail small boats to a standard that will allow them to confidently handle a boat or begin racing as a novice racer.

To encourage younger sailors, we provide Tackers Optimist class boats for use by junior members. These are an excellent way to build confidence as they are simple enough to be fun whilst challenging enough to keep kids interest and best of all – they are unsinkable.

For the adults, we sail both mono-hull boats and catamarans. Our main classes are the Impulse, Sabre, Laser and Tasar in monohull, and Paper Tiger, Arrow and Nacra 4.5/430 in the multihull.

We run an AYF accredited sailing school offering an introduction to sailing program. This is a popular course for beginners and covers all aspects of boat rigging, handling, basic sailing skills and safety taught by our qualified instructors. Boats are supplied so participants need only bring themselves and some warm clothing to enjoy learning to sail on our beautiful lake. Courses run in the spring (October-December) and Autumn (February-March).

Our club is conveniently located in Lysterfield Lake Park, Horswood Road, Lysterfield. The lake is nestled in natural bush surroundings with abundant wildlife. We often share our rigging times with the local kangaroos.

Rigging Beach

The park is controlled by Parks Victoria. Facilities available include electric BBQs, toilets, ample car parking and protected sandy beach swimming areas. There are plenty of grassed areas close to the water for boat rigging. The park also has many walking and bike riding tracks for anyone wishing to combine their sailing day with other fun things to do.
